8 AAP MLAs Join BJP, Accuse Party of Corruption

New Delhi, 1 February – Eight lawmakers who recently resigned from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) have now joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). They joined the BJP in the presence of BJP National Vice President Baijayant Panda and Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva.
These eight MLAs had resigned from AAP the previous day, accusing the party of corruption. The resigned MLAs are: Bhavna Gaur from Palam, BS Joon from Bijwasan, Pawan Sharma from Adarsh Nagar, Madan Lal from Kasturba Nagar, Rajesh Rishi from Janakpuri, Rohit Mehrolia from Trilokpuri, Naresh Yadav from Mehrauli, and Girish Soni from Madipur.
Baijayant Panda stated that it was a historic day as many leaders left AAP just before the Delhi elections, and now Delhi is about to be freed from AAP’s control. He accused AAP of imposing false promises on the city for 10 years and said those who once trusted the party were now leaving to join BJP under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Rajesh Rishi, one of the MLAs who resigned, compared AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal to Hitler. He claimed Kejriwal was now behaving like a dictator, changing the party’s constitution to make the position of the convener permanent instead of for a two-year term.
Girish Soni, another resigning MLA, said that the activities within AAP had raised serious concerns and doubts, particularly regarding the party’s transparency and actions. He mentioned the “Sheesh Mahal” issue and expressed that these issues made him question whether the party was truly serving the common people. He decided to resign from AAP’s primary membership after being deeply hurt by these developments.
