Chandrababu Naidu wanted to become NDA Vice President, Narendra Modi refused: Deve Gowda claims

New Delhi, 7 February – (DeccanLive.com): Former Prime Minister and JD(S) president HD Deve Gowda claimed on Thursday (February 6) in the Rajya Sabha that Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu wanted to become the Vice President of the NDA after the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. However, Prime Minister Narendra Modi rejected his proposal.

Deve Gowda stated that after the 2024 elections, when Modi was expected to win 240 seats, Naidu and his MPs wanted to either become the vice president or the president of a committee formed by NDA allies. But Modi reportedly said that this would not happen. According to Gowda, Modi believes that he has the experience to run the country without chaos and that he is the only leader capable of leading the nation.

In response to Gowda’s statement, Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar gave BJP President and Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha, JP Nadda, the opportunity to clarify the matter. Nadda rejected Gowda’s claims, stating that there had been no such discussion in the NDA and that all members had decided to support PM Modi’s leadership.

It is notable that JD(S) is part of the NDA, with two MPs in the Lok Sabha. Deve Gowda’s son, HD Kumaraswamy, serves as the Minister for Heavy Industries and Steel.
