Only Four Muslim Candidates Win in Delhi Elections 2025

New Delh, 8 February – (DeccanLive.com): In the 2025 Delhi Assembly elections, only four Muslim candidates won, and all of them belong to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). While AAP maintained its dominance in key Muslim-majority constituencies, the party saw a significant decline in its vote share compared to the 2020 elections. This decline was not due to increased popularity of the BJP but rather because a large portion of Muslim voters shifted their support to the All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen (AIMIM) and Congress.
The Four Winning Muslim Candidates:
- Amanatullah Khan (Okhla) – Won with 88,943 votes.
- Ali Mohammad Iqbal (Matia Mahal) – Won with 58,012 votes.
- Chaudhary Zubair Ahmed (Seelampur) – Won with 79,009 votes.
- Imran Hussain (Ballimaran) – Won with 57,004 votes.
In the 2020 Delhi Assembly elections, five Muslim candidates had won, including:
- Haji Yunus (Mustafaabad)
- Abdul Rahman (Seelampur)
- Amanatullah Khan (Okhla)
- Imran Hussain (Ballimaran)
- Shoyab Iqbal (Matia Mahal)
