HYDRAA Warns Against Buying Farm Land in Suburban Areas of Hyderabad

Hyderabad, 18 February – (www.deccanlive.com): Due to skyrocketing land prices in the city, people are increasingly looking towards the suburbs. However, the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Assets Protection Agency (HYDRAA) has issued a warning about purchasing land in these areas.
There has been a rise in land transactions in the suburbs, especially land being sold as farm plots, where buyers are being encouraged to engage in agricultural work during weekends.
HYDRAA has advised caution regarding these farm plots, as they are subject to certain legal restrictions. The commissioner of HYDRAA, Ranganath, clarified that there are legal limitations on selling farm lands, and only plots of 2,000 square meters or 20 guntha can be sold as farm land.
Additionally, under Telangana’s Municipal Law (2019) and the Panchayat Raj Law (2018), the sale of farm land is restricted. Moreover, as per the government order issued on August 31, 2020, construction of homes without permission on layouts is not allowed.
In several areas, there are no spaces reserved for parks or roads, and the government or concerned officials will not be held accountable for any complications arising from these purchases.
Complaints have been received regarding the sale of farm plots in Rajendranagar Mandal, Lakshmipur village in Rangareddy district. HYDRAA has advised people to seek detailed information from relevant authorities before purchasing land in suburban areas.
