2-Year-Old Boy Kidnapped in Hyderabad for Begging or Selling; Police Rescues Child and Arrests Accused

Hyderabad, 20 February – (www.deccanlive.com): A 2-year-old boy was kidnapped in Hyderabad’s Afzalgunj area on February 15, 2025. The police acted quickly, rescuing the child and arresting three suspects.

The mother, Yuyi, from Kadapa district in Andhra Pradesh, had come to the city looking for work and was living on the footpath in CBS, Gowliguda. On February 15, while she was asleep on the footpath in a drunken state, she woke up around 2 p.m. to find her 2-year-old son, Prem Kumar, missing.

She immediately reported the kidnapping to the Afzalgunj police, and an investigation was launched. CCTV footage revealed a person taking the child in a passenger auto. After analyzing over 100 CCTV videos, the police identified the auto number.

According to the police, the main suspect, Sheikh Amir (also known as Tara), kidnapped the child with the intention of selling him or using him for begging. With the help of two women and three other suspects, Tara planned to sell the child to a childless couple. The police have arrested Amir alias Tara, Majida Begum, Mohammadi Begum in this case.

The Afzalgunj police raided the suspect’s home, rescued the child safely, and arrested the suspects. The boy was returned to his mother. During the investigation, the suspects confessed to their crime and admitted that they planned to sell or use the child for begging. The police are still searching for one more fugitive involved in the case.
