Marry the Rape Survivor Within 3 Months: HC Grants Conditional Bail to Accused

Sikar, 5 March (www.deccanlive.com): The High Court has granted conditional bail to the accused in a rape case involving a young woman who had come to take a written exam for police recruitment. The court stated that the accused must marry the rape survivor within three months of being released from jail.

The incident occurred in Khandoli, Agra, where the accused allegedly raped the woman, who had come to take the police recruitment exam, and made an objectionable video. The video was later shared on social media. Based on the victim’s complaint, an FIR was filed against the accused, Naresh Meena, at Khandoli police station. The police registered the case and sent the accused to jail.

On October 3, 2024, Naresh Meena, also known as Narsa Ram Meena, a resident of Khatundra village in the Jajod police station area of Sikar district, Rajasthan, applied for bail in court. However, the district judge rejected his bail application. Following this, a petition was filed in the Allahabad High Court.

Senior Advocate Neeraj Pathak stated that a bail petition was presented in the High Court. The High Court granted the accused’s bail application on the condition that he marries the victim within three months of his release from jail. After the accused is released, the victim will be consulted regarding the court’s order.

The young woman had accused the suspect of demanding ₹9 lakh under the pretext of helping her secure a police job. She claimed she was preparing for the police recruitment exam at a private coaching center, where the accused was also preparing. They interacted, and the accused demanded ₹9 lakh to help her get recruited. On February 17, 2024, he took her to Agra for the exam. Under the guise of a medical check-up, he took her to a hotel, where he allegedly raped her, took photos, and made videos.
