Sub-Inspector Nayab Khan Commits Suicide in Government Quarters – Took Extreme Step While Fasting

Rampur, 7 March – (www.deccanlive.com): In Uttar Pradesh’s Rampur district, Sub-Inspector Nayab Khan, aged 50, posted at Swar Police Station, committed suicide by hanging himself from a ceiling fan in his government quarters. He was a resident of Auraiya district.
His family tried calling him but found his mobile switched off. They then called the police station’s official number, after which officers checked his room and discovered his suicide. Upon receiving the news, SP Vidya Sagar Mishra and ASP Atul Kumar Srivastava reached the scene. However, the body was not taken down until his family arrived.
Nayab Khan had been serving as a sub-inspector at Swar Police Station for about two years. On Wednesday, he went to court for a case and returned to his room. Everything seemed normal, but later in the afternoon, a relative called the police station’s official number, saying Nayab Khan’s phone was switched off and they needed to speak with him.
When police officers reached his quarters, the door was locked from inside, and there was no response. Peeking through the window, they saw him hanging from the fan.
The incident caused a shock at the police station, and the entire staff was stunned. Senior officers were informed, and soon, SP Vidya Sagar Mishra, ASP Atul Kumar Srivastava, and CO Bilaspur arrived at the scene. They assessed the situation, gave necessary instructions, and then left.
The reason behind the suicide remains unknown. It is reported that Nayab Khan was fasting and took this extreme step while in the state of fasting.
