OIC Emergency Meeting in Jeddah: Support for Egypt’s Gaza Reconstruction Plan

Jeddah, 8 March – (www.deccanlive.com): The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) held an emergency meeting in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, where member countries supported an alternative Arab proposal to replace Donald Trump’s controversial Gaza plan.
During the meeting, OIC Secretary-General Hussein Ibrahim Taha expressed support for Egypt’s proposal regarding Gaza, which was later approved by the Arab League. Unlike Trump’s plan, the Egyptian proposal focuses on rebuilding Gaza under the Palestinian Authority’s supervision without displacing Palestinians from their land.
After the meeting, Secretary-General Hussein Ibrahim Taha stated:
“I support the Gaza reconstruction plan adopted by the Arab Summit. The Palestinian people’s right to live on their land must be respected.”
Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Ati presented the proposal at the OIC meeting, successfully gaining consensus to expand it from an Arab plan to an “Islamic Plan” for Gaza.
The meeting took place amid rising tensions in the region, especially after Israel’s recent decision to block humanitarian aid from entering Gaza during Ramadan.
Last month, Trump’s statements about occupying Gaza and forcibly displacing Palestinians faced strong global opposition. Many countries rejected the Trump Plan, calling it an attempt to escalate conflict in Palestine.
