Syrian Army Bombs Hezbollah Sites in Response to Soldiers’ Killing

Damascus, 17 March – (www.deccanlive.com): The Syrian army has carried out attacks on the positions of the Lebanese group Hezbollah. This action came after three Syrian soldiers were killed by Hezbollah fighters.
On Sunday, the Syrian Ministry of Defense accused Hezbollah, a Lebanese group supported by Iran, of kidnapping three Syrian soldiers, taking them to Lebanon, and then killing them there. This information was shared by Syrian state media.
According to the Syrian state news agency SANA, the Ministry of Defense stated that they would take all necessary measures in response to this serious aggression by Hezbollah. This incident happened near Sad Zita, west of the Syrian city of Homs.
On the other hand, Hezbollah denied any involvement in the incident. In a statement, Hezbollah clarified that they had no connection with the reports circulating about the events at the Lebanese-Syrian border on Sunday.
According to Lebanon’s official news agency, rockets fired from Syrian territory landed in the Lebanese border town of Al-Qasr.
A Lebanese security source told a foreign news agency that the tension started when three Syrian security officers entered the town of Al-Qasr. There, they were targeted by tribal smugglers involved in illegal activities.
The source added that the reason why the Syrian soldiers entered Lebanon is still unclear.
The armed group handed over the bodies of the three Syrian soldiers to the Lebanese army, which then returned them to Syria.
After the incident, Syrian security forces carried out shelling on homes in the town of Al-Qasr, increasing the tension in the area.
It’s important to note that before the fall of former Syrian President Bashar al-Assad’s government, Hezbollah was one of Bashar’s main supporters.
Last month, Syrian authorities announced a security operation in the border province of Homs to block routes used for weapons and goods smuggling.
