Important Update on New Ration Cards in Telangana

Hyderabad, 28 March – (www.deccanlive.com): The Telangana government is ready to issue ration cards to all eligible people, according to Irrigation Minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy. He denied rumors that new ration cards will have an embedded chip, clarifying that they will only contain a QR code for identification.

On the occasion of Ugadi, the government will distribute new ration cards and supply ration rice to beneficiaries. Speaking to the media, the minister stated that April 30 will mark a revolutionary change for the poor in Telangana, as fine rice distribution will begin from Huzurnagar. About 85% of the state’s population will receive fine rice. A draw system will be introduced, allowing beneficiaries to collect rations from any location across the state.

  • Physical ration cards will be distributed.
  • Even if a person does not have a card but is on the beneficiaries’ list, they will receive fine rice from April 1.
  • Currently, Telangana has 90 lakh ration cards covering 2.85 crore beneficiaries.
  • ₹10,665 crore is being spent jointly by the central and state governments for ration distribution.
  • Soon, the government will also provide pulses and salt along with rice.
  • CM Revanth Reddy will officially launch the fine rice program on Ugadi.
  • 30 lakh new ration cards will be issued.

The minister also mentioned that the government has not yet decided whether to include the Prime Minister’s photo on the new ration cards.
