Breaking News: Controversial Waqf Amendment Bill to be Presented in Lok Sabha Tomorrow

New Delhi, 1 April – (www.deccanlive.com): The NDA government will present the Waqf Amendment Bill 2024 in the Lok Sabha on April 2, Wednesday. Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs and Minority Affairs, Kiren Rijiju, announced that the bill would be introduced for discussion and approval after the Question Hour. He mentioned that an 8-hour debate has been scheduled, with a possibility of extension if needed.

Government’s Stand
Kiren Rijiju emphasized that the government wants a fair discussion on the bill. He said,
“If opposition parties refuse to participate in the debate, we cannot stop them. Every political party has the right to express its views. The country wants to know which party supports or opposes the bill. This will remain in the records for centuries.”

He further confirmed, “I will present the amendment bill for discussion and approval immediately after the Question Hour on April 2, and we have agreed on an 8-hour debate.”

Opposition and Muslim Organizations Strongly Oppose the Bill
Several opposition parties and Muslim organizations are protesting against the Waqf Amendment Bill, calling it “unconstitutional.” They argue that the BJP-led government is trying to take away the rights of Muslims.

Owaisi’s Strong Reaction
Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi has strongly opposed the bill, stating that it violates the Indian Constitution’s Articles 14, 25, 26, and 29. He called it the “Waqf Destruction Bill.”

Owaisi also questioned NDA allies like Nitish Kumar, Chandrababu Naidu, Chirag Paswan, and Jayant Chaudhary about their stance on the bill. He warned,
“If this bill is passed, Muslims will never forgive them.”

With the bill set to be introduced in Lok Sabha tomorrow, all eyes are on key political figures, especially NDA allies, to see how they respond to this controversial legislation.
