Legendary Actor Manoj Kumar Passes Away at 87 in Mumbai

Mumbai, 4 April – (www.deccanlive.com): Legendary Indian actor and filmmaker Manoj Kumar passed away at the age of 87 on April 4, 2025. He took his last breath at 4:03 AM at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Mumbai.
Known for playing patriotic roles, Manoj Kumar was lovingly called “Bharat Kumar” by his fans. According to medical reports, he suffered an acute myocardial infarction (severe heart attack). It was also confirmed that he had been battling liver disease for the past few months, which had affected his health. On February 21, 2025, he was hospitalized after his condition worsened.
His death has shocked the film industry, with many expressing grief and paying tribute to his legacy. Filmmaker Ashoke Pandit also mourned his passing.
Manoj Kumar’s real name was Harikrishna Goswami. He was born on July 24, 1937, in Amritsar, Punjab. He made a significant impact in Hindi cinema, with iconic films like “Shaheed,” “Upkar,” and “Rang De Basanti”. Throughout his career, he was known for both acting and directing films that celebrated national pride and unity.
In recognition of his immense contributions to Indian cinema, the Government of India honored him with the Padma Shri Award in 1992 and the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 2015.
