Cooking Gas Gets Costlier: ₹50 Hike in LPG Cylinder Price

New Delhi, 7 April (www.deccanlive.com): The Modi government has increased the price of LPG gas cylinders by ₹50 shortly after raising petrol and diesel prices. The hike applies to both Ujjwala (PMUY) and non-Ujjwala consumers, announced Union Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri on Monday.

He stated that the price for PMUY beneficiaries will rise from ₹500 to ₹550, and for other consumers, it will increase from ₹803 to ₹853.

The minister added that this price will be reviewed every 2 to 3 weeks. He clarified that the recent excise duty hike is not to burden consumers but to recover a ₹43,000 crore loss faced by oil marketing companies due to subsidized gas.
