Israeli Forces Kill Sleeping Palestinian Man in Tubas

Tubas, Palestine – 18 July – (PIC): In another act of violence by the Israeli occupation forces, a Palestinian man was shot and killed while sleeping in his home in the Al-Far’a refugee camp, located in the West Bank city of Tubas.

The victim, Firas Ahmad Raja Sabah, 47 years old and father of seven children, was shot early in the morning by Israeli soldiers who stormed his house. He was seriously injured while still asleep in his bed. Later in the day, he succumbed to his injuries and died.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health confirmed receiving information from the Civil Affairs Department about his death. According to Kamal Bani Odeh, director of the National Prisoners Club in Tubas, the soldiers not only shot Firas while he was asleep but also took him away in a wounded state, where he eventually died.

A joint statement from the Commission of Prisoner Affairs and the Palestinian Prisoners Club described this killing as another example of the organized war of genocide that Israel is carrying out against the Palestinian people. They said that the death of Firas Sabah is yet another dark chapter in Israel’s list of crimes.

They also offered condolences to his brother Sameer Sabah, who has been held under administrative detention in Israeli prisons since January.

The statement held Israel fully responsible for Firas’s death and urged international human rights organizations to take real action instead of just issuing statements. They demanded that Israeli leaders be brought to justice for war crimes and called for the international community to end Israel’s impunity and revive the global justice system.

It is worth noting that killings by Israeli forces in the West Bank, especially at security checkpoints, are increasing daily. Innocent Palestinians are being killed regularly, and the silence of the international community is only encouraging more of these crimes.

Since the beginning of the war on Gaza on October 7, 2023, over 1,014 Palestinians have been killed in the West Bank alone by Israeli forces and armed settlers.
