Telangana: 18 Kg Gold Stolen in Suryapet After Thieves Drill Hole in Wall

Suryapet, 21 July – (www.deccanlive.com): A massive robbery took place in Suryapet, Telangana. Thieves targeted a jewellery shop with a well-planned strategy. They made a hole in the back wall of the showroom and broke the shutter using advanced tools. Using gas cutters, they opened the strongroom and looted 18 kilograms of gold, worth approximately ₹17 crore.

The robbery happened at Sai Santoshi Jewellers, located on the busy MG Road in the Suryapet district center. The robbers carefully planned the theft. First, they disconnected the CCTV cameras to avoid being caught. Then, during the night, they cut a hole in the wall behind the shop. They also cut through the shutter enough for a person to enter inside.

Once inside, they targeted the strongroom. They ignored silver and only stole gold jewellery. They opened the large iron safe using gas cutters and stole all the gold.

On Monday morning, the shop owner, Kishore, noticed the shop was in a mess. He saw the hole in the strongroom wall and realized the gold was missing. He immediately informed the police.

Police teams, including the Clues Team and Dog Squad, visited the spot and began collecting evidence. Suryapet DSP Prasanna Kumar also inspected the scene. Police are investigating whether the robbery was done by a local gang or an interstate criminal group. They believe the theft happened around midnight.

Officers are scanning footage from CCTV cameras inside and around the shop. They are also questioning nearby residents and shop staff. The police hope to get more clues soon.

The incident has caused panic among gold traders in Suryapet. According to shop owners, similar thefts have happened in the past as well. A case has been registered based on Kishore’s complaint, and the investigation is ongoing.

The fact that such a major robbery occurred at a shop located in the main commercial area has shocked the public and created tension in the town.
