NSP Scholarship 2025: ₹20,000 Annual Scholarship Opportunity for Economically Backward Inter Pass Students

Hyderabad, 8 July – (www.deccanlive.com): The Government of India, under the Ministry of Education, has launched a special scholarship program to support students from poor families. This program is part of the Pradhan Mantri Uchchatar Shiksha Protsahan Yojana (PM-USP Yojana) and is called the Central Sector Scholarship Scheme for College and University Students (PM-USP CSSS).

Under this scheme, the government will give 82,000 new scholarships every year to meritorious students from low-income families so they can continue higher education.

Scholarship Amount

  • Undergraduate students (UG): ₹12,000 per year for the first 3 years
  • Postgraduate students (PG): ₹20,000 per year
  • Integrated or professional courses (like 4 or 5-year courses): ₹20,000 per year for 4th and 5th years
  • 50% of the scholarships are reserved for girl students
  • Last date to apply: October 31, 2025

Eligibility Criteria

To apply for the Central Sector Scholarship, students must:

  1. Score above 80% marks in Intermediate (Class 12) from their state board.
  2. Take admission into a regular degree course (UG or PG).
  3. Not receive any other government or private scholarship, including fee reimbursement.
  4. Family income must be below ₹4.5 lakh per year.
  5. Maintain at least 50% marks every year in the degree course.
  6. Maintain minimum 75% attendance.
  7. Be between 18 to 25 years of age.

How to Apply

Eligible students must apply online through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP) at:
https://scholarships.gov.in/

The last date to apply is October 31, 2025.

  • Inter Marks Memo (12th Marksheet)
  • Income Certificate
  • Aadhar Card
  • Bank Account Details
  • Admission Proof from College/University
  • College’s AISHE Code
  • Category Certificate (SC/ST/OBC/Minority, if applicable)

The selected students will receive scholarship money directly into their bank accounts through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).

Students will also need to renew their application every year before the deadline.
