Asaduddin Owaisi Criticizes Central Budget: “We Cannot Build a Developed India by Ignoring 15%”

New Delhi, 10 February – (DeccanLive.com): Asaduddin Owaisi, Member of Parliament from the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), criticized the central budget on Monday (February 10), stating that it will not lead to a “developed India.” During the budget debate in the Lok Sabha, he accused the government of working with biased sentiments against minorities and completely neglecting them, especially Muslims.

The MP from Hyderabad said that a “developed India” cannot be achieved until girls are educated, a large population remains poor, and 15% of the country’s Muslim population is ignored. He alleged that the government is discriminating against minorities and treating them with prejudice. The entire budget allocated for central schemes related to minorities is not being utilized. Owaisi claimed, “The government has completely ignored minorities, especially Muslims. They do not want to make waqf properties a source of income but rather destroy them.”

Owaisi further stated that the middle class is being made a “sacrificial goat.” Participating in the debate, RSP leader N.K. Premachandran said this is not a development budget and has nothing for the common people. He added that the “stepmotherly treatment” towards Kerala and Tamil Nadu should stop.

In the Rajya Sabha, opposition parties also targeted the central government over rising inflation, unemployment, and income inequality in the country. They accused the central budget of neglecting the poor and rural populations. Congress leader P. Chidambaram, initiating the debate on the 2025-26 central budget in the Rajya Sabha, said the general budget is not based on any deep strategy or philosophy but is influenced by politics and aimed at fulfilling the results of the recent Delhi Assembly elections.
