Bajrang Dal Protest Over Iftar in Haridwar College, Demands Muslim Students’ Expulsion – Inquiry Committee Formed

Haridwar, 9 March – (www.deccanlive.com): Bajrang Dal members created a ruckus and protested at Rishi Kul Ayurvedic College in Haridwar, Uttarakhand, on Saturday (March 8). The protest was triggered by a group of Muslim students organizing an iftar (fast-breaking meal) during Ramadan.

The police intervened and dispersed the protesters, but not before they warned of a bigger protest if action was not taken within three days.

The controversy started when some Muslim students arranged iftar inside the college campus on Friday. Bajrang Dal leader Amit Kumar accused the students of conspiring to invite outsiders for iftar in a Hindu religious city.

According to Kumar, Rishi Kul Ayurvedic College holds historical significance and was founded by Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya. He claimed that under municipal regulations, non-Hindus are not allowed to hold such gatherings in Haridwar.

Kumar further alleged a “conspiracy of Islamic Jihad” in the religious city. He warned that if the college administration did not take action to expel the students within three days, Bajrang Dal would escalate the protest.

Meanwhile, D.C. Singh, the college director, confirmed that they had received a complaint about the unauthorized iftar gathering. He stated that some students had brought food, but the administration stopped them.

To investigate the matter, the college has formed a committee of teachers, which will submit its report soon.
