UAE Executes Two More Indians for Murder; India’s Mercy Plea Rejected

Abu Dhabi, 6 March – (www.deccanlive.com): Two Indian citizens have been executed in the UAE after being convicted of murder. According to media reports, the Indian Ministry of External Affairs has confirmed the execution.
UAE authorities informed the Indian Embassy on February 28, 2025, that the execution had been carried out, though the exact date remains unclear. Both individuals, Mohammed Rinash Arangilottu and Muraleedharan Perumthatta Valappil, were from Kerala.
India had appealed for clemency, but the UAE Supreme Court upheld the death sentence. The Indian government has informed the families of the executed individuals.
Two Indians Executed in UAE; 26 More Facing Death Penalty
According to reports, Rinash worked at a travel agency in Al Ain and was convicted of murdering a UAE citizen. Muraleedharan was sentenced to death for killing another Indian national.
The Indian Ministry of External Affairs stated that it had provided all possible legal assistance to both individuals. The ministry is now working to facilitate the participation of their families in the final rites.
UAE has the highest number of Indians sentenced to death in foreign countries. On February 13, Minister of State for External Affairs, Kirti Vardhan Singh, informed the Rajya Sabha that 29 Indians were on death row in the UAE. However, after the execution of Shehzadi Khan from Uttar Pradesh’s Banda and the two men from Kerala, the number has reduced to 26.
Shehzadi Khan, a 33-year-old woman from Banda, was executed on February 15 for allegedly killing a 4-month-old baby. She had been imprisoned in Dubai for two years and was sentenced to death four months ago. She was buried in the UAE on March 5.
