In a moving example of humanity and social harmony, a Hindu family from Debe Dehra village in Chausa, Buxar district, Bihar, has donated one bigha of land to the Muslim community for use as a burial ground. The gesture was made in memory of their son, who died in a tragic road accident.

On 18 November, Shivam Kumar, the elder son of Janardan Singh, passed away after a speeding car hit his bike in Dehradun. Shivam was the main support of his family and was running three factories on his own. The family was preparing for his marriage this year, but the sudden tragedy shattered everyone at home and in the village.

Shivam’s uncle, Birjraj Singh, said that Shivam was not only the backbone of the family but also someone who always cared for the village and helped anyone in need. His death left the entire community in deep sorrow.

During the shradh ceremony (a Hindu ritual performed to honor ancestors by expressing gratitude and remembrance, often involving rituals and offerings) held on Monday, the family decided to honour Shivam’s memory by donating land to the local Muslim community for a graveyard. The land will be completely handed over to them.

The burial ground will be named “Shivam urf Ahir Dham Qabristan.”
Birjraj Singh said, “Shivam always believed in harmony and brotherhood. By donating this land, we want his message of humanity to reach future generations.”

On the same day, the family also planted saplings in Shivam’s memory, saying the plants will grow as symbols of his kindness and gentle nature.

This gesture by a Hindu family for Muslim residents has become the talk of the entire district, with people praising it as a rare and inspiring example of humanity, love, and unity.
