Elon Musk Reacts to White House Video of Deportation Flight (Video)
Washington DC, 19 February – (www.deccanlive.com): Billionaire Elon Musk responded to a video shared by the White House that showed immigrants in shackles boarding a deportation flight from Seattle. The video, posted on social media, showed law enforcement officials putting illegal immigrants in handcuffs and shackles before placing them on a plane.
The footage also showed officers lifting heavy chains from a basket and preparing them for use. Several sets of restraints were arranged on the tarmac before being put on the migrants.
The White House described the video as an “ASMR” clip. ASMR (Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response) is a tingling sensation some people feel when listening to soft or unique sounds, such as whispering or tapping.
Elon Musk later reposted the video on his social media platform X with the caption, “Haha wow.” His reaction received heavy criticism, with many calling it “disgusting” and “dehumanizing.”
One user commented, “This is disgusting. The fact that you think this is funny says a lot.” Another wrote, “You are pathetic, @elonmusk, laughing at a video of undocumented immigrants in shackles.”
Many also questioned the way the US government is treating deported immigrants. Some described the treatment as unfair and humiliating.
President Donald Trump has intensified efforts to deport illegal migrants, including those from India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, China, and Guatemala. Thousands have already been sent back to their home countries.
In some cases, when direct deportation is difficult, the US is using Panama as a temporary stop. Costa Rica is also expected to receive a similar flight of deportees later today (February 19).
