Red Cross Shows Double Standards in Returning Bodies: Palestinian Official Press

Gaza, 21 February – (PIC): The Palestinian official press has stated that the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) demonstrates double standards when handling the bodies of Palestinian and Israeli prisoners. The office claims that there is a clear distinction in the procedures and events associated with the delivery of these bodies.
This was said by Ismail al-Thawabta, the director of the official media office, in a post on the “X” platform. He clarified that the ICRC organizes official ceremonies when receiving the bodies of Israeli prisoners, while the bodies of Palestinian martyrs are delivered in trucks, placed in blue plastic bags, and brought without any respect for human dignity.
Al-Thawabta further stated that this clear discrimination reflects double standards and exposes the international community’s failure to achieve justice.
On Thursday morning, the Al-Qassam Brigades’ “Shadow Unit” handed over the bodies of four Israeli prisoners to the Red Cross. These prisoners had been killed during Israeli military bombing of their detention centers inside the Gaza Strip.
For the first time, after the beginning of Operation Al-Aqsa Storm on October 7, 2023, Palestinian resistance fighters received the bodies of these Israeli prisoners as part of an exchange agreement. These prisoners were killed by Israel during the genocide war over a period of 15 months.
