Hamas Pledges to Follow Founder’s Ideology on Sheikh Yassin’s Anniversary

Gaza, 22 March – (PIC): On the 21st anniversary of the martyrdom of its founder, Sheikh Ahmed Yassin, the Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas reaffirmed its commitment to following his ideology and principles. In a statement on Saturday, Hamas emphasized its belief in defending Palestine, Jerusalem, and Al-Aqsa Mosque, as well as the role of the Arab and Muslim world in this cause.

Hamas stated that Sheikh Yassin’s martyrdom at the hands of the occupying enemy continues to inspire the Palestinian people and their resistance. His legacy of steadfastness, patience, sacrifice, and defense of the homeland and sacred sites remains a guiding force.

The statement also asserted that the assassination of Sheikh Yassin and other Palestinian leaders has not weakened the resilience, courage, or strength of the Palestinian people. Hamas vowed that Israel’s attempts to displace Palestinians and achieve its aggressive objectives will not succeed.

Hamas has emphasized that the crimes committed by the occupying state against the Palestinian people and the assassination of their leaders will only strengthen their determination, rights, and resilience. The movement reiterated that resistance remains a strategic option to reclaim Palestinian land and achieve the right of return.

Hamas stated that the struggle and steadfastness seen today against Israeli occupation are the fruits of the seeds planted by Sheikh Ahmed Yassin. The group recalled his words, saying that the Palestinian people have always proven to be among the strongest and most resilient nations. Their endurance and determination allow them to face all challenges.

The statement also highlighted Sheikh Yassin’s belief in the role of the Arab and Muslim world in defending Palestine, Jerusalem, and Al-Aqsa Mosque. Hamas declared that the assassination of Palestinian leaders and national figures will not stop their people from continuing their legitimate struggle to defend their land, identity, and sacred sites.

It is worth noting that on March 22, 2004, Israeli occupation forces assassinated Sheikh Ahmed Yassin at the age of 67. He was targeted by Israeli airstrikes as he was returning from Fajr (dawn) prayers, resulting in his martyrdom along with his companions and civilians.
