Hyderabadi Food Delivery Executive Dies in Riyadh While Delivering Iftar Order

Riyadh, 27 March – (www.deccanlive.com): In Riyadh, a food delivery worker from Hyderabad lost his life in a tragic accident while rushing to deliver an Iftar order. Muhammad Maqsood Hussain, a 33-year-old resident of Jahanuma, Hyderabad, died on March 18 after his motorcycle collided with another vehicle. He succumbed to his injuries on the spot.
Maqsood Hussain was working as a delivery executive for a well-known food delivery company in Riyadh through a subcontractor. His body is expected to be repatriated to India soon.
Dangerous Jobs in the Food Delivery Industry
The rapidly growing food delivery industry in Gulf countries has attracted thousands of young South Asians, including many Indians. However, many of them face dangerous working conditions, low wages, and job insecurity.
Like many others, Maqsood Hussain came to Saudi Arabia in search of better employment, but he was not directly employed by the company. Instead, he worked under a subcontractor, which meant he faced various job and salary-related issues.
According to Riyadh-based social activist Abdul Jabbar, subcontracted workers often struggle to leave their jobs and return home due to contractual restrictions. He also noted that several Hyderabad-based delivery workers are facing similar challenges in Saudi Arabia.
Many major food delivery companies hire workers through subcontractors, and a significant number of them work without proper job contracts or visa verification.
Maqsood Hussain’s tragic death highlights growing concerns over the safety and rights of delivery executives working in hazardous conditions abroad.
