Indian Woman Executed in UAE for Child Murder Charges
Dubai, 3 March – (www.deccanlive.com): An Indian woman from Banda, Uttar Pradesh, Shehzadi Khan, was executed in the UAE on February 15. The Indian Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) informed the Delhi High Court about this on Monday.
Shehzadi was accused of killing a 4-month-old baby and had been in a Dubai jail for two years. The court sentenced her to death four months ago.
According to Additional Solicitor General Chetan Sharma, her last rites will be performed on March 5. The MEA and the Indian Embassy in Abu Dhabi will assist Shehzadi’s family in traveling to Abu Dhabi for the funeral.
Just two days before the execution, Shehzadi’s father filed a petition in the Delhi High Court, requesting the MEA’s intervention in the case.

Shehzadi Khan’s father claimed in his court petition that on February 14, his daughter called him and said she had been transferred from jail to a hospital and that she would be executed soon.
The Indian Embassy in Abu Dhabi had also sent a clemency request to the Abu Dhabi authorities, but no action was taken.
Shehzadi Was Sold in Dubai by an Indian Man
Shehzadi was from Goyra Mugli village in Banda, Uttar Pradesh. Before moving to Dubai, she worked with a social organization called ‘Roti Bank’. As a child, she had suffered burn injuries on one side of her face.
In 2021, she connected on Facebook with a man named Uzair from Agra. Uzair lied to her and gained her trust. He then tricked her into coming to Agra, promising to help her get medical treatment for her face.
In November 2021, under the pretense of treatment, Uzair sold her to a couple, Faiz and Nadia, in Dubai.
Shehzadi Khan Faced Abuse in Dubai
Shehzadi had previously shared that she was tricked into going to Dubai. Once there, she was mistreated by Faiz and Nadia, who kept her locked inside, never allowing her to go out. They also physically abused her. She wanted to return to India, but they did not let her leave.
Faiz and Nadia had a 4-month-old baby, who was seriously ill and later died. After the child’s death, Faiz and Nadia blamed Shehzadi for it. A police case was filed, and she was sent to jail.
Shehzadi Was Arrested in 2023
In February 2023, Shehzadi was handed over to Abu Dhabi police on charges of killing the child. On July 31, 2023, the court sentenced her to death. This verdict was upheld by another court on February 28, 2024.
Shehzadi was imprisoned in Al Wathba Central Jail until her execution.
