Kancha Gachibowli Case: Supreme Court Issues Another Warning

New Delhi, 23 July – (www.deccanlive.com): The Supreme Court has once again warned government officials during the hearing of the controversial HCU Kancha Gachibowli land case. Justice B.R. Gavai, a senior judge, stated on Wednesday that if needed, temporary jails will be set up on the spot and officials may be sent there.
The Kancha Gachibowli case came up for hearing in the Supreme Court today. The opposing parties requested more time to review the affidavit submitted by the Telangana government. The court granted two weeks’ time and postponed the next hearing to August 13.
During the hearing, Chief Justice B.R. Gavai questioned the Telangana government’s lawyer, asking, “So, have you saved the forest for now?”
The lawyer replied, “Yes, currently all work on the Kancha Gachibowli land has been stopped.”
Justice Gavai strongly remarked that cutting down forests in the name of development is not acceptable. He criticized the authorities, saying, “You tried to bring bulldozers overnight to destroy the forest. I am advocating for sustainable development. If you don’t protect the forest, we will send the responsible officials to temporary jails right there on the site.”
