Saudi Cabinet Approves Law Allowing Foreigners to Own Property

Jeddah, 9 July – (www.deccanlive.com): In a meeting held in Jeddah under the leadership of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, the Saudi Cabinet approved a new law that allows non-Saudis (foreigners) to own property in the Kingdom.

During the meeting, the Crown Prince informed the Cabinet about his recent meeting with the President of Indonesia and his phone conversation with the German Chancellor.

The Cabinet appreciated the outcomes of the first Saudi-Indonesian High-Level Council, where both countries agreed to strengthen relations. Agreements were signed between private companies in clean energy, petrochemicals, and aviation fuel services.

The Acting Minister of Information, Dr. Issam bin Saeed, said the Cabinet also discussed Saudi Arabia’s efforts to support global economic stability, including cooperation with OPEC+ to balance the oil market.

Saudi Arabia to Host UNIDO Conference

The Cabinet welcomed the upcoming UNIDO (United Nations Industrial Development Organization) Conference in November, to be hosted by Saudi Arabia. The goal is to find global solutions for sustainable industry, modernization, and technology transfer.

UN Adopts Saudi Resolution on Child Protection

The Cabinet appreciated the UN Human Rights Council’s unanimous approval of Saudi Arabia’s resolution to protect children in cyberspace. This reflects the Crown Prince’s global campaign to ensure a safe digital environment for children.

Saudi Leads in Cybersecurity

The Cabinet expressed pride that Saudi Arabia ranked #1 in cybersecurity in the 2025 Global Competitiveness Report, crediting technological progress and international cooperation.

Digital Economy Reaches 495 Billion Riyals

Saudi Arabia also ranked first globally in ICT (Information and Communication Technology), according to the International Telecommunication Union. The country’s digital economy has now reached 495 billion riyals, showing strong infrastructure and investment.

Continued Success Against Drugs

The Cabinet praised the ongoing success of security forces in fighting drug smuggling and dismantling criminal groups involved in narcotics.

Joint Arab Power Market and Transport Strategy

The Cabinet approved the creation of a Joint Arab Electricity Market, following an agreement in the 15th session of the Arab Ministerial Council for Electricity.

They also approved the updated National Transport and Logistics Strategy, and a memorandum of understanding between Saudi Arabia and Italy to cooperate on modern transportation technologies.
