Niyaz Khan Shot Dead During Village Meeting in Bihar, 6 Arrested

Kaimur, Bihar, 1 July – (www.deccanlive.com): In Bihar’s Kaimur district, a man was shot dead during a public panchayat (village meeting) over a property dispute. The incident took place in Ujari Sikthi village under Nagar police station on Sunday.

The deceased was Niyaz Khan, aged 50, a resident of the same village. According to family members, the dispute was between Niyaz Khan and Irshad Khan’s family regarding property division. During the panchayat, arguments started from both sides, which soon turned into a heated fight.

The victim’s relatives alleged that a member of Irshad Khan’s family went home, brought a rifle, and shot Niyaz Khan, killing him on the spot. The sound of the gunshot caused panic among those present.

The victim’s body was kept at the scene for several hours as the family demanded the arrest of the accused and waited for Niyaz Khan’s mother to arrive.

Senior police officials, including SP Harimohan Shukla, DSP Shiv Shankar Kumar, and Nagar police station in-charge Mukesh Kumar, visited the village, investigated the case, and questioned the locals.

Police recovered the rifle used in the murder and arrested 6 accused in connection with the incident. The arrests were made under the leadership of the SP and other senior officers.

As of the time this report was written, the family had not yet submitted a formal complaint to the police.
