Painting Work Begins at Sambhal Jama Masjid Under ASI Supervision

Sambhal, 16 March – (www.deccanlive.com): The painting and renovation work at Sambhal Jama Masjid started on Sunday at 9:00 AM. The work is being carried out under the supervision of the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI). A team of 10 workers has been assigned to this task. First, the outer walls of the mosque were cleaned, and then the painting work began.
Currently, a large number of police personnel are deployed at the site along with the ASI team. According to the contractor, the painting work will take around 10 days to complete.
Meanwhile, Mahant Balyogi Dinanath from the Nath sect has demanded that the mosque be painted in saffron color. He has even sent a letter to the District Magistrate (DM) to support his demand.
However, the mosque committee’s lawyer stated that the mosque will be painted using the same colors as before – green, white, and gold. The head of the mosque committee, Zafar Ali, also confirmed that the color scheme of the mosque will remain unchanged, and no changes will be made to its original look.
The High Court had approved the painting and renovation work at Sambhal Jama Masjid four days ago. The court had ruled that the mosque committee is allowed to paint and renovate only the outer walls of the mosque. On February 25, the Muslim side had filed a petition in the High Court regarding this matter.
The first hearing on this case took place on February 27. The court had then formed a three-member committee to investigate the issue. The committee submitted its report to the court, and based on the report, Justice Rohit Ranjan gave the order for the painting and renovation work on March 12.
