Ration Card Holders Alert: Do This or Lose Free Ration from April!

Hyderabad, 25 March – (www.deccanlive.com): Ration card holders must complete their eKYC process within the next 7 days to continue receiving ration benefits. If they fail to do so, their names will be removed from the ration card, and they will no longer get food grains from April onwards.
To complete the eKYC, cardholders can visit their nearest PDS (Public Distribution System) shop or dealer. Those living in other states do not need to return to their home state for Aadhaar linking; they can complete the eKYC process through an e-POS machine at their nearest ration shop.
eKYC Deadline in Punjab, Bihar, and Jharkhand
- Jharkhand: The Hemant Soren government has set the eKYC deadline as March 31, 2024. If cardholders face any issues, they can visit the District Supply Office for assistance.
- Bihar: The Nitish Kumar government has set the deadline as March 31, 2025. Aadhaar seeding at ration shops is free and will be available daily from 10 AM to 12 PM. Bihar has also introduced facial e-KYC, allowing beneficiaries to complete the process from anywhere in India using the Aadhaar FaceRD app on their mobile phones.
To avoid disruption in ration supply, all cardholders must complete their eKYC before the deadline.
The Bhagwant Mann government in Punjab has set March 31, 2024, as the deadline for KYC completion for all ration cardholders who receive benefits from government ration centers. Those who have not yet completed their KYC must visit their nearest ration center and complete the KYC process for all family members listed on the ration card.
Failure to do so may result in ration benefits being stopped. Beneficiaries can update their KYC at their nearest village or ward ration depot. According to the Government of India guidelines, those who fail to complete KYC by April 2025 will no longer receive ration benefits.
Why is eKYC Important for Ration Card Holders?
- Many central and state government welfare schemes require an Aadhaar card, ration card, or BPL card for eligibility.
- If your eKYC is completed, the government can easily provide you with benefits under these schemes.
- Without eKYC, your ration supply may stop.
Completing the KYC process ensures that only eligible beneficiaries receive ration benefits. It also helps the government identify and remove fake ration cards. Under this process, every ration card member’s name, date of birth, and other details must match their Aadhaar data. This nationwide verification process is being implemented to eliminate fraudulent ration cards.
