Rekha Gupta to Become Chief Minister of Delhi, Swearing-In Ceremony on February 20

New Delhi, 19 February (www.deccanlive.com): Rekha Gupta will be the new Chief Minister of Delhi. This was announced during the legislative party meeting on Wednesday evening (19th February). The RSS proposed Rekha Gupta’s name, which was accepted by the BJP. Party leaders Ravi Shankar Prasad and Om Prakash Dhankar were appointed as observers, and they spoke with all BJP MLAs before the meeting.
During the legislative meeting, Satish Upadhyay and Vijender Gupta proposed Rekha Gupta’s name, and her appointment as Chief Minister was confirmed. Prior to this, there were reports that Pravesh Verma would be the Deputy CM, and Vijender Gupta would be the Speaker of the Assembly, but the BJP has not yet confirmed these roles. The meeting only selected the Chief Minister.
Rekha Gupta will take the oath as Delhi’s Chief Minister on Thursday, February 20, at 12:35 PM at Ramlila Maidan. The invitation sent by the Delhi Chief Secretary also mentions the swearing-in of ministers alongside the Chief Minister.
In the Delhi Legislative Assembly, BJP has 4 female MLAs. In the Delhi Assembly elections, the BJP fielded 8 female candidates, 4 of whom were successful. Rekha Gupta won the Shalimar Bagh seat. BJP’s Poonam Sharma defeated AAP’s Neeraj Gupta from the Minister Pur seat. Neelam Pehalwan defeated AAP leader Saurabh Bhardwaj from the Najafgarh seat, and Shekha Rai defeated AAP leader Saurabh Bhardwaj from the Greater Kailash seat.
