Bulldozer Action on Nagpur Violence Suspect Faheem Khan’s House (Video)

Nagpur, 24 March – (www.deccanlive.com): A bulldozer was used to demolish the house of Faheem Khan, a suspect in the Nagpur violence. The violence started after Hindutva groups demanded the removal of Aurangzeb’s tomb. The Nagpur Municipal Corporation took action on March 24 after giving Faheem Khan 24 hours’ notice on March 23 to remove an illegal construction.
The house is located in Sanjay Bagh Colony, Yashodhara Nagar, Nagpur, and is registered in the name of Faheem Khan’s wife. The municipal corporation had issued a notice due to problems in the building plan approval. Faheem Khan is also the Nagpur President of the Minorities Democratic Party.
In connection with the violence over Aurangzeb’s tomb, a case of treason has been registered against Faheem Khan and six others. He is accused of gathering more than 500 people and encouraging violence.
Currently, Faheem Khan is in police custody. Earlier, on March 21, he applied for bail in the Sessions Court. Faheem claims that he was arrested due to political revenge because he had demanded action against Vishwa Hindu Parishad activists.
Faheem Khan was arrested on March 19, two days after the Nagpur violence incidents.
On the fifth day of violence, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis held a press conference in Nagpur on Saturday. He said that the damage caused by the riots will be recovered by selling the properties of the rioters. If needed, bulldozers will also be used.
He further assured that the victims will be compensated as soon as possible. Those who attacked the police will face strict legal action.
Responding to opposition allegations, Fadnavis clarified that this violence was neither an intelligence failure nor a political conspiracy.
He also addressed rumors, stating that the news of harassment of a lady constable is false, but stones were thrown at her.
Regarding Shiv Sena’s claim that the violence is linked to Bangladesh, Fadnavis said it is too early to confirm, but this angle is also being investigated.
