New Delhi, 18 February – (www.deccanlive.com): The court told Ranveer, “You have embarrassed your parents and sisters.” Ranveer, a YouTuber and podcaster, faced backlash for using inappropriate language on the show India’s Got Latent. The Supreme Court strongly criticized him, saying, “There is something dirty in this person’s mind, which has been spread through this show.” The court also asked his lawyer, “Are you defending such statements? We want to know what the standards of obscenity are?”
However, the court temporarily stopped his arrest and ordered that no FIR (police complaint) be filed against him. Justice Surya Kant said, “The words you chose will embarrass parents, sisters, and the entire society. This is a twisted mentality. You and your people have shown perversion! We have a justice system that works according to the law. If there are threats, the law will take its course.”
When Ranveer’s lawyer asked to cancel the FIR, the court responded, “If this statement is not obscene, then what is? Why should we cancel or combine the FIR filed against you?”
