Dubai Launches World’s First AI-Chef Powered Restaurant

Dubai, 11 July – (www.deccanlive.com): A futuristic restaurant powered by artificial intelligence is all set to open in Dubai this September, just a short distance from the iconic Burj Khalifa.
The restaurant, called “VoHoo”, will offer a unique experience where most of the cooking and planning is done by an AI chef named “Chef EMMIN”. Only the serving will be done by humans for now.
What is Chef EMMIN?
Chef EMMIN is an advanced AI model designed using decades of food science research, molecular composition data, and thousands of global recipes. The name “EMMIN” comes from combining the words “AI” and “man”.
Even though EMMIN cannot taste or smell like a human chef, it can break down food into components like texture, acidity, and flavor profiles, and then mix them in new and unique ways to create exciting dishes.
Once the AI designs a dish, human chefs taste and fine-tune it under the supervision of well-known Dubai-based chef Reif Othman.
How It Works
EMMIN also learns through feedback. When chefs respond to its suggestions, the AI improves its understanding of what works beyond just data.
According to the creators, the goal is not to replace human chefs, but to enhance their creativity and reduce food waste. For example, the AI is designed to come up with recipes that reuse ingredients usually thrown away, like meat trimmings or fat.
The Bigger Picture
VoHoo’s co-founder, Ahmet Oytun Cakir, who is also the CEO of hospitality company Gastronaut, says the AI could help make kitchens more sustainable by reducing waste.
In the future, the team hopes to license Chef EMMIN to restaurants around the world, making kitchens smarter, more efficient, and eco-friendly.
So next time you’re in Dubai, your food might just come with a side of artificial intelligence.
