SP Leader Azam Khan’s Son Abdullah Azam Released from Jail After 17 Months

Hardoi, 25 February – (www.deccanlive.com): SP leader Azam Khan has received a big relief as his son, Abdullah Azam, has been released from jail after nearly 17 months. In October 2023, the court sentenced him to seven years in jail in the case of two birth certificates, after which he was sent to prison.
Abdullah Azam Khan, former SP MLA and son of Azam Khan, was jailed in Hardoi in a fraud case. On Tuesday, February 25, he was finally released. His bail was approved by the court, and on Monday, the jail administration received the release order.
After being convicted in the dual birth certificate case, Abdullah Azam was taken into judicial custody and sent to Rampur District Jail. Along with him, his father, Azam Khan, and his mother, Tazeen Fatima, were also sent to jail.
For security reasons, Azam Khan was shifted to Sitapur Jail, while Abdullah was kept in Hardoi Jail. Since then, both father and son had been in prison. However, Tazeen Fatima was released on bail earlier. Now, Abdullah Azam is also out of jail.
Abdullah Azam, former SP MLA and son of Azam Khan, was released from Hardoi Jail on Tuesday. His lawyer, Nasir Sultan, stated that the court had approved his bail a few days ago. However, due to verification of sureties and other legal formalities, the release order was issued on Monday. As soon as the news of his release spread, his supporters celebrated with joy.
Court Imposes Conditions on Bail
Although Abdullah Azam is now free, the court has imposed strict conditions on his bail. According to these conditions, he cannot leave the country without the court’s permission during the bail period.
Earlier, both Azam Khan and Abdullah Azam were cleared by Rampur police in a case related to the destruction of enemy property. However, the government later ordered a reinvestigation. The case was handed over to Crime Branch Inspector Nawab Singh, who is currently the city police officer in Rampur.
On Tuesday, the MP-MLA Magistrate Court accepted Abdullah Azam’s bail application but added four key conditions:
- He cannot leave the country without court approval.
- He must appear in court on every hearing date.
- He cannot influence or threaten witnesses.
- He must fully cooperate with the trial proceedings.
With these conditions in place, Abdullah Azam will remain under legal restrictions despite his release.
