Hyderabad MMTS Train Incident: Suspect Held for Assault Attempt on Woman

Hyderabad, 25 March – (www.deccanlive.com): Hyderabad police have intensified their investigation into the attempted assault case on a young woman in an MMTS train. They divided into four teams to track down the suspect.

The police have made progress in the case and identified the accused as Jangam Mahesh, a resident of Goudavalli village in Medchal district. He was taken into custody after the victim confirmed his identity.

Reports suggest that Mahesh’s wife left him a year ago, and he has been living alone since the death of his parents. He is also addicted to drugs and has a criminal history, according to the police.

To find the suspect, police analyzed CCTV footage from Secunderabad to Medchal. They examined cameras at all railway stations along the 28-kilometer route, leading to the suspect’s identification and arrest.

The victim is currently receiving medical treatment, and further investigation is ongoing.

The victim is currently undergoing treatment at the hospital. Due to internal injuries, doctors fear the risk of infection and have kept her under observation for three days. Reports indicate that her facial bones are severely injured. A CT scan and other medical tests were conducted overnight. Doctors plan to perform surgery on her jaw after three days.

What Happened?

The victim, a young woman from Anantapur district in Andhra Pradesh, works for a private company in Hyderabad and resides in Medchal.

On the evening of March 22, she visited Secunderabad to repair her mobile phone. At around 7:15 PM, she boarded the women’s compartment of the Tellapur-Medchal MMTS train from Secunderabad. Around 8:15 PM, when the train reached Alwal station, two other women in the compartment got off, leaving her alone.

At this moment, an unknown man approached her and started harassing her. He attempted to assault her, but in fear, the woman jumped off the train near Kompally. Locals found her with severe injuries and immediately shifted her to Gandhi Hospital via a 108 ambulance.

The police have since arrested the suspect and are continuing their investigation.
