Delhi High Court Orders Patanjali to Stop Misleading Ads Against Dabur Chyawanprash

New Delhi, 3 July – (www.deccanlive.com): The Delhi High Court has issued a major order against Baba Ramdev’s company, Patanjali Ayurved, in a case filed by Dabur India Limited. Dabur accused Patanjali of spoiling the image of Dabur Chyawanprash through misleading advertisements.

On Tuesday, the High Court gave an interim order instructing Patanjali not to show or publish any misleading or negative advertisements about Dabur Chyawanprash. The decision was made during the hearing of Dabur’s petition.

Justice Mini Pushkarna, who is leading the case, agreed with Dabur’s complaint and granted temporary relief. The next hearing is scheduled for July 14.

What is the issue?

Dabur India filed a petition objecting to certain TV ads by Patanjali, claiming that these ads directly target Dabur’s Chyawanprash and mislead consumers.

Dabur said that Patanjali’s ad wrongly claimed its own Chyawanprash was made from more than 51 herbs, while in reality, it has only 47. Dabur also accused Patanjali of damaging Dabur’s reputation by calling their product ordinary.

Additionally, Dabur alleged that Patanjali’s Chyawanprash contains mercury, which can be harmful to children.

The court’s order has given a temporary win to Dabur, stopping Patanjali from running any negative or confusing ads about Dabur’s product.
