Telangana: Heavy Rains in Scorching Summer – Relief and Challenges for These Districts!

Hyderabad, 4 April – (www.deccanlive.com): Telangana and Andhra Pradesh experienced heavy rains accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds. The sudden downpour caused major disruptions, leading to crop damage and injuries due to lightning strikes.
Telangana Rains Update:
The weather department reported moderate rainfall in Telangana, with 23 districts expected to receive thunderstorms. Hyderabad witnessed heavy showers, flooding roads in areas like Lower Tank Bund, Charminar, Uppal, Saroor Nagar, Bandlaguda, and Balanagar.
In Hyderabad, the highest recorded rainfall was:
- Himayatnagar – 9.1 cm
- Charminar – 9.0 cm
- Saroor Nagar – 8.9 cm
- Nampally – 8.8 cm
- Musheerabad – 8.7 cm
- Amberpet – 8.5 cm
- Bandlaguda – 8.1 cm
- Shaikpet – 8.0 cm
- Balanagar – 7.7 cm
- Maredpally – 7.6 cm
- Amberpet – 7.4 cm
Andhra Pradesh Rains Update:
Heavy rainfall is predicted today and tomorrow in several districts, including Alluri, Kakinada, East Godavari, Anantapur, Tirupati, and Annamaiah. Lightning strikes have already claimed six lives.
Rainfall recorded in Andhra Pradesh districts:
- Krishna – 6.8 cm (highest)
- Prakasam – 6.5 cm
- Annamaiah – 5.7 cm
- Nandyal – 4.3 cm
- NTR – 3.9 cm (lowest)
Several houses collapsed in Annamaiah district due to heavy rain, causing significant crop damage. Strong winds uprooted trees and electricity poles, severely affecting villages. In Nallamada, five acres of maize crops were destroyed.
Both states are on high alert as unpredictable weather conditions continue.
