Telangana Panchayat Elections: AIMIM MLA Kauser Mohiuddin’s Wife Files Nomination for Sarpanch Post

The Panchayat election process is moving smoothly across Telangana, and an interesting development has attracted public attention. Najma Sultana, wife of AIMIM MLA Kauser Mohiuddin (Karwan constituency), has filed her nomination for the Sarpanch post in Baswapur village, Medak district.
Baswapur is the MLA’s native village, and his family recently built a new house there. Najma Sultana has been staying in the village for the past few months. With the local body elections underway, she decided to contest for the Sarpanch position. She submitted her nomination on Thursday.
Najma is not new to public service—she previously served two terms as a Corporator in Hyderabad, representing Nanakramguda and Golconda areas. Her entry into the Sarpanch race has made the contest more interesting, and locals are now watching closely to see whether she will be elected unopposed or face a competition.
Panchayat Election Highlights
- In the first phase, 395 Sarpanch positions across Telangana have already been elected unanimously.
- In five villages, no nominations were filed for the Sarpanch post.
- More than 80,000 candidates are contesting for Sarpanch and Ward Member positions in the first phase, scheduled for December 11.
Second & Third Phases
- For the second phase (polling on December 14), a total of 28,278 nominations were filed for 4,332 Sarpanch seats, averaging 6.5 candidates per seat.
- For 38,342 ward seats, 93,595 nominations were received, with an average of 2.44 candidates per ward.
- Nomination withdrawal for the second phase is open until December 6, and results will be announced on the same day as polling.
- The third phase elections will be held on December 17, with the nomination deadline ending on Friday (December 5).
Najma Sultana’s entry has added more excitement to the Baswapur elections, and villagers are eagerly waiting to see how the contest unfolds.
