Telangana: Good News for White Ration Card Holders Before Ugadi!

Hyderabad, 23 March – (www.deccanlive.com): The Telangana government has announced that from April, ration card holders will receive fine rice instead of regular rice. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy will officially launch this scheme on Ugadi (March 30) at the Mattapalli Temple in Suryapet.

There are 91,19,268 ration cards in the state, benefiting 2,82,77,859 people. As per the election promise, the government is replacing coarse rice with fine rice in all ration shops from April 1. Each beneficiary will receive 6 kg of fine rice, ensuring better quality and nutrition for the poor.

To support this initiative, the government is offering a ₹500 bonus per quintal to farmers for fine rice production. So far, 8 lakh tons of fine rice have been processed and stored in district warehouses. Authorities estimate that the available stock will last for four months, with further supplies being milled.

This initiative aims to improve the quality of food provided through the ration system and fulfill the government’s commitment to public welfare.
