Heavy Rain in Himachal: 39 Dead, 285 Roads Closed

New Delhi, 30 June – (www.deccanlive.com): Since Sunday, Himachal Pradesh has been experiencing heavy rainfall. Due to landslides, traffic on 285 roads has been stopped across the state. Since the start of the monsoon, 39 people have died, including 3 deaths in the last 24 hours.
Landslide Traps Vehicles in Tunnel
On Monday morning, a landslide occurred near the Bhubu Jot Tunnel on the Mandi-Kullu National Highway. As a result, many vehicles were stuck inside the tunnel for 5 hours.
Due to the weather alert, schools have been closed today in 4 districts of Himachal Pradesh.
Lightning Strikes in Bihar
In Bihar, lightning strikes killed 5 people in the districts of Bhojpur, Buxar, and Nalanda.
In Gaya’s Imamganj area, water levels in the Lagurahi Waterfall rose suddenly on Sunday. Six girls were swept away by the strong current, but local residents rescued all of them safely.
Rain Alerts Across India
According to the weather department:
- Rain is expected in 31 states/UTs today
- Red alert issued in Uttarakhand and Jharkhand
- Orange alert for heavy rain in 12 states including Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan
- Yellow alert issued in 17 states
Lightning Hits House in Jammu
In Jammu, lightning struck a house on Monday morning around 7 AM in Dhinadi Khurd village of Bishnah Tehsil.
Though the house suffered heavy damage and several electronic items were destroyed, the family members are safe.
