Trump Rejects Gaza Evacuation Proposal, Hamas Welcomes the Decision

Riyadh, 13 March – (www.deccanlive.com): Hamas has welcomed U.S. President Donald Trump’s clear rejection of any proposal for the permanent relocation of Palestinians from Gaza.
Hamas spokesperson Hazem Qassem urged Trump to avoid aligning with extreme Zionist views. On Wednesday, during a meeting at the White House with Irish Prime Minister Micheál Martin, Trump responded to a question by stating, “No one is removing any Palestinians from Gaza.”
Qassem emphasized that if Trump’s statement represents a firm rejection of any idea of forced displacement, Hamas welcomes it. He further called for stronger enforcement of all ceasefire agreement terms, ensuring Israel complies with them.
Last Sunday, Hamas political advisor Taher al-Nounou confirmed that direct, unprecedented talks took place between Hamas and Washington in Qatar. These discussions focused on the potential release of a dual-national American-Israeli held by Hamas in Gaza.
Additionally, negotiations included discussions on a step-by-step process to end the ongoing conflict.
Both Hamas and Israel have indicated their willingness to prepare for the next phase of ceasefire negotiations, as mediators push to extend the 42-day truce that began in January.
A Hamas delegation recently met with Egyptian mediators to reaffirm their readiness for ceasefire discussions, while Israel sent negotiators to Doha on Monday.
These talks mark a shift in Washington’s long-standing policy of avoiding direct negotiations with Hamas, which the U.S. has previously designated as a terrorist organization.
