Protesters Burn Sheikh Hasina Wajid’s House in Bangladesh

Dhaka, 6 February – (DeccanLive.com): Thousands of angry protesters set fire to the ancestral home of Bangladesh’s former Prime Minister, Sheikh Hasina Wajid, in Dhaka. According to media reports, the unrest erupted after Sheikh Hasina announced her plan to address her supporters through social media.

Protesters had warned earlier that if Sheikh Hasina went ahead with her speech, they would destroy her ancestral home. As her address began, the crowd stormed the house, setting it on fire and later demolishing it using a crane.

The house in question previously belonged to Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the founding leader of Bangladesh. During Sheikh Hasina’s tenure as Prime Minister, the property was converted into a museum dedicated to her father’s legacy.

This act of destruction reflects the ongoing tension and deep divisions within the country. Protests against Sheikh Hasina have intensified following her ousting from power, with many accusing her of holding policies that fueled public anger.
