Hyderabad: Newlywed Man Dies by Suicide, Jumps into Hussain Sagar Amid Alleged Harassment by Wife

Hyderabad, 8 July – (www.deccanlive.com): A shocking incident has come to light where a newly married man died by suicide in Hyderabad. The man jumped into Hussain Sagar Lake just a few weeks after his marriage, reportedly due to harassment from his wife and her relatives.

The incident took place under the Lake Police Station limits. The deceased man has been identified as Santosh. His family is in deep shock and pain, especially his mother Mangamma and sister Bharati, who claim that harassment by his wife Sharada and her family led to his death.

Family Speaks Out

According to Santosh’s sister Bharati:

  • Santosh got married to Sharada, a woman from Ramanthapur, on May 9.
  • After marriage, it was discovered that Sharada had gynecological health issues, which were not informed to them before the wedding.
  • She was often unwell and looked sick from the day she came to their home.
  • When Santosh’s family questioned Sharada’s family about hiding her health condition, things turned worse.
  • Sharada, along with her uncles, mother, and brother, allegedly started mentally harassing Santosh.
  • They told him, “You married her, so now it’s your problem,” and pressured him emotionally.

On July 4, Sharada reportedly attempted suicide. The next day, Santosh left the house and didn’t return.

The family filed a missing complaint at Nacharam Police Station. Sadly, the next day, police informed them that Santosh had died by suicide by jumping into Hussain Sagar Lake.

Audio and Medical Reports as Evidence

Santosh’s family says they have audio clips and hospital reports as proof of the harassment:

  • Audio recordings show abusive language and threats used against Santosh.
  • In one recording, they are heard asking Sharada’s mother why they hid her health issues before marriage.
  • The family also says they were threatened with police cases if they refused to keep Sharada at their home.

Family Demands Justice

Santosh’s mother, sister, and friends are demanding strict action and punishment against Sharada and her family, whom they hold responsible for driving Santosh to take his own life.

This tragic case has shocked the local community and raised serious concerns about mental harassment in marriages.
