Irfan Pathan Removed from IPL 2025 Commentary Panel Over Serious Allegations

New Delhi, 24 March – (www.deccanlive.com): Former Indian all-rounder Irfan Pathan has been removed from the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 commentary panel after serious allegations were made against him.
According to Indian media reports, the IPL 2025 season began at Eden Gardens, Kolkata, with a match between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). However, fans noticed that Irfan Pathan was missing from the grand opening ceremony.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) released the official list of commentators for this season, but Irfan Pathan’s name was not included, despite being a regular and popular commentator known for his bold analysis.
Reports suggest that some Indian cricketers complained about him, accusing him of biased commentary and having a personal agenda against certain players. It was also reported that during the Australia series, a cricketer was so upset with his comments that he even blocked Irfan Pathan’s number, further escalating the controversy.
For the past two years, Pathan has allegedly been targeting specific players, which has not been well received by BCCI officials. Some fans believe that his removal is linked to his criticism of Virat Kohli’s form during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024.
Notably, this is not the first time such an incident has happened. Former cricketer and commentator Sanjay Manjrekar was also removed from the commentary panel in the past for making controversial statements.
