Hyderabad Chemical Plant Tragedy: Reactor Blast Claims 14 Lives

Sangareddy, 30 June – (www.deccanlive.com): A major industrial accident happened in Pasamailaram, located in the Patancheru industrial area of Sangareddy. The situation is becoming more serious as the death toll has reached 14, and it may increase further.

At the time of the accident, around 150 workers were on duty, and nearly 90 of them were inside the block where the explosion occurred. Reports also confirm that the factory manager is among the dead.

About 26 workers are seriously injured and are being treated in the hospital. Some of them are in critical condition. Officials say that the exact number of deaths will be clear only after the debris is fully removed.

What Happened?

The accident happened on Monday morning around 9 AM at the Sigachi Chemicals factory in Pasamailaram. A reactor inside the factory exploded with a loud blast. The explosion damaged the administration building, the manufacturing unit, and several other areas of the factory.

Many workers were working near the administration building at the time. Eyewitnesses said that the blast was so powerful that some workers were thrown 100 meters away. Several injured workers were found scattered across the factory area.

Due to the intense fire and building collapse, many workers got trapped under the debris and flames. Officials fear the death toll could go even higher.

Quick Response Avoided Bigger Disaster

Local people say that government officials acted quickly and evacuated nearby areas, which helped prevent more damage and injuries.

Because of public pressure and criticism from opposition parties, ministers have made official statements and are closely monitoring the rescue operations.
