US President Announces Takeover of Gaza: “We Will Own It” – Plans to Displace Palestinians

Washington, 5 February – (DeccanLive.com): U.S. President Donald Trump has announced plans to take control of the war-torn and blockaded Gaza Strip, which has been devastated by Israeli actions. During a press conference on Tuesday, February 4, at the White House with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Trump declared, “The United States will take over Gaza, and we will own it.”

Trump stated that after taking control, the U.S. will stabilize Gaza and create job opportunities in the region. He added that the goal is to establish long-term ownership and develop Gaza into a prosperous area, providing employment opportunities for local residents and allowing others to settle there.

The U.S. President further revealed plans to relocate Palestinians to neighboring countries, such as Jordan and Egypt, while waiting for responses from the leaders of these nations. Trump claimed that other regional leaders have been informed about this plan and have expressed their approval.

He emphasized that Palestinians have no choice but to leave Gaza and urged neighboring countries to take in the displaced people.

Before addressing the media at the White House, Trump signed a document halting U.S. participation in the United Nations Human Rights Council and cutting funding for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA).

US Announces Strict Policy Against Iran

President Donald Trump signed a presidential memo reinstating a strict policy against Iran. The policy aims to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons and to limit its oil exports.

During a speech in the Oval Office, Trump stated that Iran cannot possess nuclear weapons and that the U.S. has the right to stop other countries from purchasing Iranian oil. Calling the decision a tough one, he mentioned that he had deliberated over whether to take this step or not.

Trump expressed his willingness to meet with the Iranian president to persuade Tehran to abandon its nuclear weapons program. He criticized former President Joe Biden, accusing him of failing to strictly enforce sanctions on Iran’s oil exports, which, according to Trump, allowed Iran to fund its nuclear program and support armed groups in the Middle East.

In December, the head of the UN nuclear watchdog reported that Iran was enriching uranium up to 60%, close to the 90% level needed for weapons. While Iran denies any intention of building nuclear weapons, the U.S. government is increasing pressure through strict measures.

The memo signed by Trump directs the U.S. Treasury Secretary to impose maximum economic pressure on Iran. This includes taking tough actions against those violating existing sanctions. The Treasury and State Department have been instructed to implement a campaign to reduce Iran’s oil exports to zero.

Following the announcement, U.S. oil prices dropped, which also impacted trade relations between Washington and Beijing.
