Nationwide Campaign Against Waqf Amendments – A Revolutionary Declaration by All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB)

New Delhi, 5 April (www.deccanlive.com): The All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) has strongly opposed the recent amendments to the Waqf Act. The Board announced that it will launch a nationwide campaign against these amendments and continue the movement until the government takes them back completely.
These views were shared during a meeting of the Board’s office-bearers and special invitees, chaired by Board President Maulana Khalid Saifullah Rahmani.
According to a press release issued today, the Board believes that the amendments passed by Parliament are a direct attack on Islamic traditions, religious freedom, Indian culture, communal harmony, and the constitutional values of the country.
The Board also criticized the political parties that supported the BJP in passing these communal amendments, saying their false image of secularism is now fully exposed.
At the same time, the Board assured the Muslims of India that there is no need to feel disappointed or hopeless. The Muslim leadership is ready to make any sacrifice in this matter and will fight within constitutional limits, along with all justice-loving citizens of the country, to resist these dangerous amendments.
Board’s General Secretary, Maulana Mohammad Fazlur Rahim Mujaddidi, explained the action plan of the nationwide campaign. He said the Board will:
- Challenge the amendments legally in the Supreme Court,
- Use all democratic and peaceful methods to protest,
- Organize sit-in protests (dharnas),
- Wear black bands as symbolic protest,
- Conduct roundtable meetings with non-Muslim brothers,
- Hold press conferences to raise public awareness.
In every state capital, Muslim leaders will offer symbolic arrests as a form of protest. At the district level, peaceful sit-in protests (dharnas) will be organized. At the end of these protests, memorandums will be submitted to the President and the Home Minister through local District Magistrates and Collectors.
In the first phase, a full week (from one Friday to the next) will be observed as “Save Waqf, Save Constitution Week.” During this week, many awareness activities will be carried out. One important event will be roundtable meetings with non-Muslim citizens, where lies and propaganda spread by the government and extremist groups will be clarified with truth and facts.
There will also be a special meeting in Delhi with religious leaders and heads of Waqf institutions of other religions.
Major protest events will be organized in the following cities:
Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Vijayawada, Patna, Ranchi, Malerkotla, and Lucknow.
The campaign will officially start with a large public meeting at Talkatora Stadium in Delhi.
This first phase will continue until Eid-ul-Adha. After that, the next steps will be decided.
Message to Youth and Supporters:
The General Secretary of the Board appealed to all Muslims, especially the youth, to remain patient, peaceful, and firm in their stance. He advised not to take emotional or violent actions that could give extremist forces a chance to create trouble.
The Board urged everyone to follow the campaign in an organized and planned way, not acting independently but strictly following the instructions of the Board.
A Message of Faith and Hope:
The message ends with a verse from the Qur’an:
“And those who strive in Our cause – We will surely guide them to Our ways. Indeed, Allah is with those who do good.”
The Board said:
We must do our duty completely, and then leave the rest to Allah.
Have full faith and trust in Allah, as He always rewards sincere efforts – both in this world and the Hereafter.
May Allah help and support us all.
