BJP Plans to Replace Raja Singh with Madhavi Latha in Goshamahal

Hyderabad, 15 July – (www.deccanlive.com): The BJP is preparing to bring a major change in its Telangana political strategy. After distancing itself from controversial leader Raja Singh, the party is now working to promote Madhavi Latha, who recently contested unsuccessfully in the Hyderabad Lok Sabha elections, as its new face in the state.
According to sources, Madhavi Latha may soon contest from the Goshamahal Assembly constituency. BJP has already started efforts to remove Raja Singh from his Assembly seat through disqualification proceedings. After Raja Singh submitted his resignation from the party, BJP surprisingly accepted it and is now reviewing the legal steps to end his membership in the Telangana Legislative Assembly.
Madhavi Latha, who belongs to a corporate background, is being encouraged by the party to become active in the Goshamahal area. This move is likely a preparation for the possible by-election in the constituency. Earlier, during the general elections, Raja Singh had opposed Madhavi Latha’s ticket and stayed away from her campaign.
Now, with his departure, the party wants to strengthen its base in Goshamahal by fielding a fresh face. BJP’s Telangana in-charge Sunil Bansal, who is currently in Hyderabad, is holding discussions with senior leaders to finalize the plan. If all goes as expected, the party will soon send an official letter to the Speaker seeking action against Raja Singh under anti-defection law.
Meanwhile, BJP workers in Goshamahal seem excited about the possibility of Madhavi Latha’s candidacy. They believe she has the same strong leadership qualities that helped Raja Singh build the party’s presence in the area.
