Hyderabad, 13 March – (www.deccanlive.com): The Telangana government has established a new authority called the Future City Development Authority to develop a new city named ‘Future City’. This city will be built in Ranga Reddy district, covering 56 revenue villages across seven mandals. The goal is to transform this area into a modern urban development hub.

The Chief Minister will head the authority, while the ministers for Municipal Administration and Urban Development, Industries, IT, and Commerce will serve as vice-chairpersons. Other key members include the Chief Secretary, Principal Secretaries from the Finance, Industries, IT, Municipal Administration, and Environment & Forests departments, along with the HMDA Commissioner, TGIIC Managing Director, Ranga Reddy District Collector, and Hyderabad DTCP. The Commissioner of the Authority will act as the Member Secretary.

The proposed Future City will be located beyond the Outer Ring Road of Hyderabad, specifically between the Srisailam National Highway and the Nagarjuna Sagar State Highway. It will cover a total area of 765.28 square kilometers.

The Future City will include facilities like an airport, industrial zones, basic infrastructure, and corporate sector activity hubs to make it a major commercial and development center in the state. A total of 36 villages, previously under the HMDA (Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority), have now been brought under the jurisdiction of the Future City Development Authority.
